8月12～14日，“军队2024”国际军事技术论坛在莫斯科郊外库宾卡“爱国者公园”举行。
在现场，卡拉什尼科夫集团展示了AM-17实验性小型突击步枪，这是该枪以客户同意的配置状态的首次亮相。曾经长期销声匿迹的AM-17再次出现，专业观众仔细审视这支5.45×39mm紧凑型步枪。AM-17的展出状态很特别，这是该枪的最终状态，设计已经根据客户需要进行了改进，并顺利通过了测试和审核。现在，这种新型步枪的命运完全取决于潜在客户，可能是俄罗斯执法部门，也可能是外国客户。

需要提醒的是，启动AM项目是为了满足俄罗斯军方希望以一款设计更先进、性能更出色的新型短步枪，用于替换现役的AKS-74U。这款新型步枪以带有传奇色彩的SVD狙击步枪的设计师叶夫根尼·费奥多罗维奇·德拉贡诺夫（Evgeniy Fedorovich Dragunov）设计的MA突击步枪（小型突击步枪）为基础，这段历史已经在以往的“小型突击步枪”中有详细的论述。

AM-17突击步枪的第一款原型枪的照片已经保存在档案中，完成改进的新型号以“商品”形式在“军队2017”国际军事技术论坛上首次亮相，引起了喜欢现代枪械的参观者极大的兴趣。

过去几年，AM-17在公众视野中暂时消失，这是由于该项目的工作具有探索性，其中包括许多不同发展阶段的型号，向广大观众展示这些型号并不会引起任何兴趣。当然，在撰写AM系列的发展历史时，我们肯定会在这里提到其中的一些内容。

2023年，“赛加-AM（Saiga-AM）”卡宾枪获得了5.45×39mm和5.56×45mm口径的认证，这是针对俄罗斯民用市场需求的改进型步枪。当然，只有军用型投入批量生产之后，这种民用卡宾枪才有可能出现在枪械商店中。

再次强调一下，AM-17仅仅通过了生产过程中的最重要阶段——状态测试。卡拉什尼科夫集团在“军队2024”现场展示的是已经完成改进的样枪，这就是取得阶段性成功的证据。
